What is manual medicine?

Precise diagnostics, safe manual techniques

Manual medicine is a branch of medicine that deals with diagnosis and treatment of functional disorders of the musculoskeletal system. By combining clinical examination and targeted manual techniques, Dr. Verbitskiy removes the cause of pain, not just the symptoms.

Clinical diagnostics

Detailed examination of posture, mobility and muscle tone before each treatment.

Targeted manual techniques

Release of blocks in joints and the spine with precise, controlled grips.

Individual treatment plan

Each treatment is tailored to the patient's age, condition, and goals.

Treatment process

How the treatment/session works

Manual treatment of the spine

3. Monitoring progress

Follow-up visits to assess results and adjust further treatment.

Conditions we treat

When a joint or muscle "gets stuck"

Manual therapy primarily addresses functional blocks—conditions where a joint loses part of its natural range of motion and the muscles chronically tense in a protective response. Such blocks often do not show on X‑ray or MRI, yet cause real, everyday pain.

  • 🔹 Blocks in the lumbar, thoracic or cervical spine
  • 🔹 Low back pain after prolonged sitting or physical work
  • 🔹 Limited rotation neck and pain while driving or sleeping
  • 🔹 Pain between the shoulder blades related to posture when working at a computer
  • 🔹 Recurrent tension in the sacroiliac joint (SI joint)
After the treatment

What to expect after your first session

After manual therapy it is entirely normal to feel mild fatigue or tenderness in the treated area, similar to after exercise. This usually subsides within 24 to 48 hours. We recommend adequate hydration, avoiding intense exertion on the day of treatment, and paying attention to your posture while sitting and lifting.

If after treatment you notice unusually severe pain, tingling, or weakness that does not settle, contact us — in rare cases an adjustment of approach is necessary.

We often combine manual therapy with other approaches from our practice — for example with osteopathy for more holistic/complex issues or with medical massage as preparation of the muscles for deeper treatment. Such a combined approach often leads to faster and more durable improvement than a single technique alone.
